Temporary export for repair of a product previously imported, but under warrantee and/or guarantee, permits the re-export of the item for repair or replacement. in a specified period (tipically up to 3 months after receipt or installation of the equipment). Also, temporary permits a domestically produced item to be exported for a fixed period so that further transformation can occur outside the Peruvian customs area. The amount of time that the products can be out of the country is decided by each customs area administrator. The period cannot be more than one year (though the possibility of obtaining six month extensions does exist).

Under temporary export for repair a product under warranty and/or guarantee, the exporter is exempt from paying the otherwise applicable duties and taxes on the re-imported product. Nevertheless, if the time period is exceeded, the local customs office can require the payment of the fully applicable duties and taxes.

In the former case, the importer will usually pay a duty and taxes on the value repair of the re-imported good.
