Exporting Donated Items to Costa Rica

Postby bridgat » Tue Nov 18, 2008 4:23 am

All gifts and donated items destined for Costa Rica are dutiable and taxable by Costa Rican customs. However, items being donated to an entity controlled by the state (e.g., school supplies being donated to a public school) are eligible for duty and tax free treatment. The importer needs to handle the procedural requirements for this with Costa Rica's Ministry of Finance.
