Chile Import Regs.: Defective Parts Replacement

Postby bridgat » Tue Nov 18, 2008 3:34 am

Chapter 4 of the Chilean customs regulations describes the procedures for replacing parts for imported products that are covered by warrantees and/or guarantees provided by the manufacture of the product. Section 4.1.1 subsection C indicates that products needing repairs or reconfiguation covered by warrantees can be covered by the provisions under this "temporary export" chapter. The temporary export provisions are covered in Section 11.1 of the customs regulations. This section provides information on documentation requirements for temporary export and duty-free treatment, if available, for items returned to Chile after repair/replacement. The initiation of this procedure can only be done by the importer and should be undertaken to avoid additional tax payments.
