Haiti Standards: Testing and Certification

Postby bridgat » Tue Nov 18, 2008 5:50 am

There is currently no legislation with regard to standards, testing, approval or certification. Although international standards such as the FAO Codex Alimentarius, ISO, and WHO are used as a reference, they have not been adopted. The standards put forth by the Caribbean Organization of Standards and Quality (COSQ) will be adopted once accession to CARICOM is ratified.

A law on quality control is being drafted. The law includes provisions for the establishment of national testing and calibration laboratories and inspection posts at strategic points. The national quality organization will be guided and coordinated by the National Quality Council, the Standards Center, and the National Commission for Official Quality Control.
